Saigon Boutique Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's main business tourist and commercial area. A hotel is within walking distance of the city's major restaurants, banks, airline offices, tourist attractions. We are only 20 minutes to the airport, or 5 minutes drive from Ben Thanh Market (Saigon Market).

..."The Good - The front desk people were very friendly - lots of smiles and was very welcoming. The room was small - but adequate enough for a couple on a budget. Just be careful with the lights - you may get the impression they are faulty as the switches don't work, but in fact another set of switches on the other side of room also needs to be switched on for the lights to work.
They've got free wi-fi internet and one on the lobby at a charge - but its ultra slow. They were very obliging in helping me locate another hotel that had a lot faster internet service, despite being so late at night (had to do some work although we were on holidays!). As we were checking out, the hotel owner offered us some local viet coffee before our early flight and had a nice chat.
The Bad - The bathroom gave off a pungent sewerage smell, which forced us to be quick with our showers and grooming in the morning. The bellboy could use some deodrant as well (also overheard the hotel owner criticising his smell in Vietnamese). For our double room, we didn't get windows, so some may get a sense of claustrophobia.
Pretty much you get what you pay for - located in popular backpacker accommodation area."

"Was charged $22 a night for a single room (came with double bed). Room OK though no window; felt a little claustrophobic. Facilities all worked OK. Breakfast average - strangely had to book your choice of breakfast the day before, along with a time. On all days breakfast was sitting on the table 10 minutes early - at least they rang to say it was there but not hot by time I got to it. Very basic breakfast.
They charged $20 for airport pick up. get a Mai Linh taxi (they are honest, meters properly used) and only cost $5 approx.
beware charges for water from fridge. Was well overcharged until I complained.
My biggest complaint was not being able to check out 2 hours late without paying a full extra night. Very stingy it seemed to me. male staff very nice; female staff not so warm.
Yes, noisy, busy street. It is cheap after all. Wi-fi in rooms is a bonus. But I think you can do better in District 1."

"Arriving, we were a little apprehensive as it looks like it should be in the Red Light District of Amsterdam with the neon flashing lights and the fact that it is all lit up in red! However, when we went into the hotel, we were greeted by a delightful man, whose name I can't remember. He was very interested in our travels and was very proud of his hotel. As I remember, there was lots of very elaborate furniture in the public areas of the hotel. Our room was fine. It had everything we needed. Decor was a little dated but very comfortable. The breakfast was the usual vietnamese - eggs and baguette! The dining room was very nice, with good views. The service was excellent. The owner gave us a great recommendation of his mate's restaurant which was further up the street (on the same side). Great place - full of locals and a real find. Location of the hotel was good. We found HCMY to be a bit of a manic place, so it was nice to be in one of the quieter streets. Stay here, it's a good little find."

"Crystal Hotel, a name you give to any taxi driver and they will look at you with a large question mark on their face. A place that is hardly known by people. You might think its a shady run down place, but its not! The service here is spectacular! I stayed at the Crystal Hotel for 4 nights and it was the best night I’ve had for a mere 15 dollars a night. Two twin size beds with a large room, Air-con, fridge, TV with all the channels, bathroom with soap, toothbrush, all this makes you relax in a comfortable atmosphere. The room is spacious and beats the other backpacking guest houses we stayed at. . all that for 15 bucks?? Well worth the money. I highly recommend staying here for the money. They have smaller rooms for a cheaper price. But the staff kindness and care they take into their guests are awesome!!! The staffs here are super excellent, I left my cell phone in the room and one of the staff members chased me down and kindly returned my item. Very hospitable and the front staff speak good English. BY the looks, it looks like a small hotel from the outside but lushing with Chinese furniture in the inside. I would definitely stay here again when I return to Vietnam."
