...“We stayed here for 3 nights after much deliberation on where to stay in HCMC. The Legend Hotel is quite expensive but it is worth every penny. The staff were friendly and efficient. There was a minor hiccup at check in though, when the receptionist made quite a show of two women checking in and requesting for a double bed as opposed to 2 single beds, which made us feel quite uncomfortable. However, they ackowledged our request for a high floor and non smoking room. The room was spacious and comfortable. The toilet was a tad small with the fancy Japanese toilet with heated seat and bidet. The towels were exceptionally fluffy and so was the duvet. The bed was extremely comfortable. House keeping staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast buffet had a good selection of asian and western options but the standard was ok. We had the dinner buffet at the hotel for USD35 per person. It was fantastic value and included a good selection of seafood and even a foie gras station! We did feel a bit ill the next day though. We're not sure if it was from the food or over eating! We also received complimentary airport transfer and half day city tour. There were little things which really impressed me about the hotel apart from the fluffy towels. Example when house keeping couldn't come into the room as we decided to stay in all day, they left a little note to apologize for not making up our room. Whenever we arrived back at the hotel with a taxi, the bell boy would check to make sure we got our exact change and give the taxi driver evil looks if he tries to pull a fast one. The hotel also had a policy against bringing in prostitutes into the hotel. We got our daily newspapers without having to specially request for them. Will definitely be back if we can afford it!”

“I love this hotel. It is a five-star, but if you take you time and show around you can get great rates. Yes there are cheaper hotels, but as everything else in Ho Chi Minh is so cheap already splash out and stay here. I have stayed here four times, and I will book my flight around their availability. The rooms and big, clean and spacious (ask for a river view above ten floors). The breakfast is the best I have ever scene at any hotel, lots of western food if you wish. The lobby area is beautiful and the staff are fantastic. A motorbike taxi from here to the main shops is just $2. If this hotel was in Toronto or New York City, I could never afford this. Simply a fantastic hotel. Oh, and a huge private pool that is to die for.”

“Legend Saigon is an excellent hotel, their staff being the best part of the whole experience. There was some confusion about our reservation which they couldn't locate when I called them from Hong Kong where I was stranded for a day. When I checked in on the following day, the Assistant Manager met with us personally and apologized for the confusion and upgraded our room in compensation for the tension they put us through. The hotel itself is very clean, the staff very friendly and ever helpful and the breakfast spread needs to be seen and tasted to be believed. They close breakfast at 10 am which is sensible. Otherwise, I may have sat there eating it for lunch and dinner.”

“Stayed 2 nights in Legend on business trip. Staff, room, food, 5 stars. Staff really try hard, very polite, helpful, room huge and clean. Came here from HK where in high October season paid AU$270 for very small room in Novotel and here it cost just over AU$100. Loved Legend hotel. Saigon is interesting place, bought some nice clothes and souvenirs, shoes too, however had food only at hotel and at business place, was a bit afraid to eat out. Probably prefer other places in Asia, but was nice to see a bit of Vietnam. Liked coffee.”

“The room and service of Legend Hotel is typical of high rating Asian hotels. It's the little things that make it memorable. Since it was my first trip to Ho Chi Minh, I availed of the free shuttle service of the hotel. They had scheduled stops in the major sites of the city. When the shuttle was not operational, the concierge hailed a cab to take us to the Cathedral (one of the sites) and paid for the fare. When I got my bearing of the city, I discovered it was much faster to walk to the city center than to take the shuttle or taxi. The traffic was heavy during our stay because of road widening.”
