..."One of the best hotels along the strip of better hotels next to the backpacker area. The inside rooms are nicely designed, modern and quiet. The outside rooms facing the park are large and well planned except for the cheap sliding doors which let in all the street noise, which, like most places in Vietnam is a constant problem. The hotel is obviously upscale and has gone the extra yard in fitting out the rooms and lobby but decided to scrimp on these doors, a major mistake. Also, as mentioned elsewhere the hot water runs out after a few minutes of use. The massage center on the 2nd floor is very nice but be careful about how it operates. They charge 70,000 for a foot massage, then demand a tip of 200,000 to 300,000 dong. The hotel manager said lots of customers complain about this but it's the Vietnam way. Seems like they should let people know before they get involved with the massage center. While it isn't technically part of the hotel, it sure seems integrated into the hotel. I'd stay far away from it unless you want to deal with such a situation. Other places on the street don't operate in this way so it seems to be something about hotel massage places."

"Stayed at Vien Dong for 3 nights (2 nights in a deluxe room and 1 night in standard) and thought the hotel for the price was excellent. Would recommend a Deluxe room however, as it was larger and positioned in a quieter part of the hotel. Location was ideal. Staff were very helpful. One word of warning was the massage centre and the tipping of the staff there. We and others we spoke to, all new to Vietnam, were pressured into giving at least a 100% tip. Beware. Foot massage was good but with all the pressuring afterwards we felt like we needed another massage to relax!"

"This hotel rates above the typical US 3-Star property. We arrived after the usual 30 hours of traveling from the US. The hotel was convenient to both the airport and the city – a real plus after traveling for so long. Check-in was quick, the beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, and it was complete with western amenities. The next morning we watched early rising Vietnamese playing in the park across the street. There were plenty of outlets to charge the batteries in all our electronics and the wifi worked flawlessly in the lobby [it would be nice to have internet access in the rooms also. Breakfast was wonderful – best we’ve had anywhere in Vietnam. Great custom omelet station. The lobby is modest, but sufficient for checking internet. The hotel has a modern keying system permitting the guest to wave the key near the doorknob [rather than having to swipe]. Beware trying to cross the street in front of the hotel. It’s dangerous for those not familiar with the Vietnam traffic customs. Best to get the assistance of the hotel doorman, which they willingly provide."
